“Are you sure you want to spend an entire year with your wife?” People have asked me this politely. Some have been more blunt, like, “Are you crazy?” Generally, those marriages are… ahem- not so good, and they are projecting. What they don’t understand is that I’m not taking just my wife with me.
I’m taking my best friend.
The Little Woman and I were best friends before we were lovers. In fact, when we first met I dated her best friend. (That’s another story). But Sherri and I had a great time being buddies. After the breakup, we still hung out together as friends, but one night, February 6th 1972, we took it to another level.
Yep, February 6th this year, we celebrate the anniversary of our first kiss.
Uh huh. I remember. Every year.
While the idea of being together 24-7 -365 does give me (and her) pause, we are still best friends. We’ll need to find times to get away from each other for awhile, but no worries, we’ll enjoy the times together as well as the times apart.
Happy fortieth anniversary, honey. It’s been awesome riding double all these years. Looking forward to many more!
