Let's hear it for- Dave Ramsey

"Debt is Dumb." "Cash is king." "Live like no one else, so you can live like no one else."
A few Dave Ramsey quotes there. Our church (www.canyonridge.org) is providing Dave Ramsey's 'Financial Peace University ' classes to the members. What a wonderful aid for the people of Las Vegas! We lead the nation in such things as foreclosures, unemployment, and people who are upside down in their house (they owe more than it is worth). Yes, we're number one, we're number one! Get those pom poms shaking, kick your heels, Vegas wins again.
Dave is a guy who made it big, lost it all, and dug his way back to success. He can empathize with people who are struggling. He studied financial gurus who established guidelines for long term economic success, and applied them to his own life. And what do you know, it worked! Now he is a passionate broadcaster of hope for people who need to get out of financial struggles.
Last week as I watched his video at church, I suddenly realized that he wasn’t trying to sell me something. Oh, for sure I had to pay for the curriculum for the class. But as he talked about 401(k)s, and IRAs, he wasn’t saying, “Now for a small fee, you can get the Dave Ramsey IRA.” He gives you the tools to dig out and succeed, and off you go.
The principles he teaches aren’t complicated. They are just hard. It takes discipline, day after day, year after year, but slow and steady wins this race, for sure.
Dave is on a pilgrimage to help people achieve financial peace. He’s a perfect example of someone surviving a plane crash and rather than swim off to safety, stops to help as many others as he can.
So let’s hear it for Dave Ramsey, the king of financial peace. And remember as Dave says on his radio show, ‘Debt is dumb, cash is king, and the paid off home mortgage takes the place of the BMW as the status symbol of choice.”
