Goals- Getting There

Last month we talked about goals. But how do we get there? If you don't have a plan, your goal is just a dream. "I want a cabin in the woods." Great. However, there are real, concrete steps to achieve that goal. For instance, save all your overtime pay for the cabin. Or pay off the credit cards, then apply the credit card money to the cabin fund. Good. Also, make a target date. When do I think I can get a cabin? Set a target date that is sooner than you think possible. You'll be amazed at the result. That's step one. Step two, visualize. Go to the desired area you want the cabin. Take pictures of a cabin like the one you envision. Now stick them up in your office, bedroom, or somewhere you will see it every day. Rent a cabin once a year, and try it out. See what you like and don't like about it. Now you have a better idea of what you want. Find someone who understands and share it with them. Tell them your goal, and listen to their support. Contrarily, DO NOT share it with a doubter. They will crush your vision. "A cabin? Right. When pigs fly." When people say things like that, your goal, your vision, your BABY will fizzle in your mind. Not good. Stick with the positive.
The photos and video are shots of some goals I have attained in my life. The classic truck, running a buggy in Baja, racing Vegas to Reno and the like. Each one a different challenge, each one rewarding in different ways. So what are you waiting for? Get to it! You will be glad you did.
